PTI Distress Challenge - Olive You

PTI Distress Challenge
Originally uploaded by Kalyber

I cut and stamped this jar from Papertrey Ink a long time ago. I made the marbles into green olives then place the whole lot into the "prestamped/precut" drawer of my scrap collection. Sometimes I want to stamp and color but not make a card. I guess you could call that drawer the "Someday Box". On Make it Monday Nichole Heady challenged everyone to use some kind of distressing on their cards. After sitting in the Someday Box for months it was time for this image to shine on a card.
I knew what the sentiment was going to be but I didn't have a stamp with that sentiment on it. I didn't want to print it out on the printer, that requires at least half a sheet of paper and I wanted to use the scrap of green (SU Kiwi Kiss) I had left over from a different project. Love this green with the Rich Razzleberry (also SU). I chose the typewriter stamps from Hampton Arts for the "olive" and the "you" is from a PTI set, it was part of "thank you".
I liked the distressing Lisa Johnson did in the video Nichole posted the challenge so I used a bit of white ink on the edges here. I like the way the ink shows the texture of the paper.

I distressed a bit more on the edge of the green strip by scrapping the edge with an Xacto blade. I used a fabric tracing wheel to add a bit of interest on that strip as well.
So today's question is,
Do you have a collection of prestamped/precut images that are waiting for a card or do you finish a project every time you stamp?

Now back to studying. JavaScript makes my brain hurt, I guess that means I'm learning.

Racers Jacket Flyboy Card

Racers Jacket Flyboy Card

The plane was cut out on the Silhouette using The Lazy Snipper OR Feeling Like a Genius - a Silhouette tutorial. I didn't use the offset feature on this and it looks cool cut so close, but it was a bit difficult to line up, even with acrylic stamps. The bits and pieces of this card have been lying around in the studioffice for a while and in a mass clean up I decided to get them together and make a card.
I really like the way this one turned out. Such a man card. This one is probably going in the Etsy store as I have no one to give it to.

First Video Tutorials - Using Offset in Silhouette Studio

Welcome to my first video tutorials on how to use the Silhouette. These are simple screen casts on basic functions of the Silhouette Studio software (v 1.5.0). If you don't have the latest software you can download it free from the Silhouette America website. My previous tutorial The Lazy Snipper or Feeling Like a Genius talked about using offset on images but didn't go into depth on the subject. Hopefully a video will help those who had questions. Like I said this is my first attempt so be patient with me.

Now for something completely different

One of the things I am planning on DOING soon is donating all the unsold stamp sets that are in my Etsy shop. Memories and Beyond, our not so local but oh so awesome, scrapbook store collects scrapbooking/stamping supplies for use in art therapy at Mooseheart Child City and School. Mooseheart is a community and school for children and teens in need, located 38 miles west of Chicago. I will be donating the stamps and some inks on my next visit, tentatively scheduled for March 26th. If you have any interest in purchasing any of these sets now is the time.

Robot says? You Send Me

I have always loved stamping and coloring but I have never enjoyed making the scenes to go with the stamped image more. I am loving the Copics I used to create the moon and the space ship (it was originally Saturn but I showed it who was boss - dunno where that came from but there it is). The sky was made with Stampin' Up inks and an aqua painter (one of my other favorite ways to color).

The stamps are from Recollections (Micheal's house brand) and I got them because they are perfect for the next robot Halloween page I have planned but I thought I'd play a bit first. I didn't like the sentiments in the set for this particular card so I just scrawled my own greeting on a star I punched out with the SU (EK Success) star punch.

Too much to do to blog much more. Need to prepare for tonight's class and start the deep cleaning. I am upgrading the internet connection and don't want to disgust the tech with the family of dust bunnies that have taken up residence behind my unmovable furniture.

Lastly I am working on a couple of video tutorials on Silhouette basics.
  • Off by that much - how and why to use Offset
