I am not always great at lining up layers on my cards. Something is generally crooked, wonky, or askew (pick your favorite synonym). I decided it was time to fix this problem once and for all. The MISTI is great for getting the stamping straight but it doesn't really help with adhering layers — until now.
I cut thick cereal boxes into guides that I use in the MISTI. These guides only work with vertical cards that are 4.25" x 5.5" but that is the majority of the cards I make.
I line up the top of the guide with the top of my card and the left side of the guide with the left side of the MISTI. I then line up the layer I am adding to my card with the line drawn on the guide and the right side of the guide. I have 3 guides that I use for different size panels. Each guide has 2 sizes on it.
If you are thinking about making your own guides here are the sizes I used. The panel depth is only if you want the layer to be perfectly centered on your card. I will often make a panel that is the full length of the card.
And here is proof it works.
