Fake ironing Friday and a giveaway

We have heard a lot about fake news in the last year. Today's card has a lot of fake going on. I'm so current. This woman in the window is fake ironing. Kind of the same thing I do.

The interior sentiment, My Birthday Suit is Wrinkled, is from Hampton Arts. I don't have an iron stamp or a stamp of someone ironing, but I found that I could use this woman if I crop her at just the right spot. She looks like she is ironing through the window. The woman in this image doesn't have hair and is holding a watering can. I love finding a new way to use stamps.

I used a die set for the shutters, window frame and the flowers at the bottom of the card. The flowers are very small and my fingers are rather large so I needed a small applicator for some kind of adhesive. I used Ranger's Multi Medium Matte in the small .5 oz bottle. Even though it's a small bottle I wanted a smaller applicator. I bought an empty precision tip applicator bottle a while ago and put the tip on the Multi Medium Matte bottle. Ranger has a special tip for this size bottle, available here, but I didn't go that route because I didn't know it existed back then.

GIVEAWAY

Have you ever ordered something online and accidentally hit the order button twice because you are so excited? I have done it more than a couple times. I did this in my last order from Simon Says Stamp that arrived last week. Soooo

I have an extra stamp that I want to send to a Katemade Designs reader. I have a goal of reaching 100 followers this year. I am 52 followers away from my goal. If I reach 100 followers on the blog I will add a paper crafting product. For each 100 followers, I will add another product to the pot. I have a set of Tim Holtz Distress crayons, a few duplicate stamps including a background stamp and numerous embellishments.

Welcome Spring

When someone says "Spring" there are a couple of phrases that come to mind. Spring cleaning and spring chicken are top of mind. SO this week will be spring cleaning week. I will post cards related to cleaning or other spring activities and at the end of the week, I will do some spring cleaning with a giveaway.

First up a little video. A very little video.

As soon as I saw this Art Impressions stamp set I knew I was going to get it because… chickens. My sister keeps chickens and has her kitchen is decorated with chicken images. I put the chicken panel on an action wobble because …spring.  The chicken and the ground were colored with Copic markers.

Man Week Continues - Meet Steven Barlow

Steven Barlow is 24 years young and lives in Australia with his partner Nathan and their 6-year-old daughter, Gemma.

"I have loved Paper and Pens since I was a child. My Christmas's were filled with markers and pencils of all kinds while my brother got action figures and a skateboard. I dabbled in Scrapbooking during my teens but kept this hidden as it wasn't what my friends would call "normal". About two years ago was when I really decided to forget what society believed was normal for a man and start taking my passion for paper crafting to the next level. Ever since most of my time (other than family time) is either spent in my Craft room getting messy or shopping for craft supplies.

"I love all types of crafting and will give anything a shot. However, card making is my main passion. My style isn't what I would call manly and most of my creations include shimmer of some sort. My favorite techniques are those of which involve getting messy. There's nothing more fun than having ink and glitter everywhere. Nathan disagrees. LOL

"I love watercolors, Copics, and Distress Products. There are so many incredible stamp companies out there, but I am generally attracted to products that are unique. I am in the midst of creating a blog and cannot wait to start sharing how my cards came to life!"

Playing catch up

Best intentions

Sometimes no matter how good your intentions are you fail. Stuff happens and takes your focus, energy, and/or desire away. I had every intention of posting regularly to the blog and even more regularly to Instagram. Well, I got the Instagram part right, sort of. I try to make a card or cards every day but writing a blog post each day isn't happening. I just don't have that much to say.  Posting to Instagram is so much quicker, easier, and more practical for what I do. If you want to see those daily please follow me here: https://www.instagram.com/katemade.designs/

I am still working on the "Use Every Stamp Challenge" so I am not able to purchase new stamps, even though my wish list is long. Here is the link to my wish list on Pinterest. I am not allowed to purchase new stuff but nothing was said about receiving new stamps as a gift.

Being Social

I have recently joined some crafty groups on Facebook. One of my favorites is Stamping Enablers. I think I found my people y'all. I've learned things. I've been in conversations and I've even won a stamp set. The sentiment and kitty from this card are both from the Art Impressions set Loving Feline. The shoes are from Claudine Hellmuth and the rest is me just cutting paper and coloring with Copic Markers.

I plan to make several of these cards for The Tree House Humane Society. I can't volunteer there. Can't even walk in the place because of allergies. But I love cats and want to help find homes for them if I can. I have not been able to attend their fundraisers. But I can make cards, with my friend who does volunteer there, to sell in their gift shop.

Organization Tip

One of the topics in the Stamping Enablers group is organization. But then isn't it always a topic among paper hoarders crafters. Storing stuff so it's accessible is huge for me and there was a discussion recently about storing blending foams that go on those Ranger blending tools. Divided boxes were popular but I have a system that I found works great for me.

I only have 2 blending tool handles and I don't have a lot of room to store more. I have a foam for each color I own because if you use the same foam for multiple colors it really muddies up the ink pads. I stamped the ink color on a slip of cardstock and used the blending tool to add color to the end of the card. After writing the color name on the card I slipped it and the foam into a badge holder. Once they were all colored, stamped and labeled I put them on a binder ring. I added another ring to the first ring so I can hang it on the knob under my drafting table.
