Quick Elegance

I'd like to begin by saying I HATE using a scanner to show cards, much prefer a camera and this card -- well the camera wasn't an option.

Now that that's out of the way on to the details. I grabbed my markers and Mr. mister and tried out my new stamps. The happy little flowers needed a frame of some kind. I had a scrap of night of navy and ripped the edge of it because is was just too long. The left needed something to balance out the extra blue on the right so I cracked open my new Frames with a Flourish and used the flourish that fit best. It was so quick and easy, I think it took about 5 minutes or so because it's all scraps that were laying on the drafting/stamping table. I think it looks quite elegant.

Stamp sets: Upsy Daisy and Frames with a Flourish
Paper: Very Vanilla base (see why I hate scanners), Night of Navy and Watercolor paper
Ink: Night of Navy, Summer Sun Marker, More Mustard Marker, Always Artichoke Marker

Now on a more personal note. I just found out that a dear friend of mine has kidney cancer. Yes the dreaded "C" word again. Please pray that Sher has a complete recovery.
Thanks

Snappy Birthday Marbled Paper

I have too much stuff. Ask anyone who has ever been in my craft room. I have been trying to whittle it down so that I have room to create, breath, store new stuff -- you know the usual. One thing I've been working on is going through long forgotten minutia: patterned papers, embellishments, etc. I found these pieces of marbled paper, well protected and organized, in transparent baseball card holder pages filed in a 3 ring binder by color no less.
I figured they needed to be used, so here is the card I used them on.

The stamps are from Crab & Co., the base is Tempting Turquoise. If you are interested in either if these items you can now order them from me on-line by clicking here. The next 4 people to order online will receive a gift from me (not in their order, but in their mailbox). Will it be a punch, stamps, rub-ons, a packet of retired goodies? Order and find out.

Bountiful Harvest

This weekend a girlfriend and I picked pears (and an apple) off the trees in front of my house. The neighborhood kids got most of the low hanging apples but the pears were harder to pick, or they just don't like pears as much, which is fine for me because I prefer a pear to an apple.
I hope this inspires you to create a card with pears (or apples) on it, or make something with pears in it, or have a piece of fruit with lunch today.
Have a fruitful day.

Owl be Thinking of you

This card was made on a whim. The patterned paper used to make the tree is the new Bella Rose Designer Series Paper. The little house and the owl are from ABC images. The more I use this set the more I like it. It's perfect for tags, alphabet projects -- which you have it you have a kindergartner like I do) and random background stamping.

Tags, Halloween Banner, Costume Rules

More tags? Yes, I just can't seem to stop myself. The images are stamped in black and water colored in with ink from pad lids. The skies are all Baja Breeze. Other than that I can't remember all the details.

My favorite is the last one. Something wonderful happens when you mix Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango - Oh my gosh I do remember some of the details.

Now on to other changes. Dig that new banner. I've seen so many Halloween cards on the blogs lately and was inspired. Summer is over and the conversations in my house have turned to, "What do you want to be for Halloween? No, really think about it."
The latest is a cowboy — which would be super easy and so I'm promoting that idea. The other idea is a tiger and that brings up the question, "where would I find an orange sweat suit for the kid. "

I have Halloween costume rules that must be followed.
1. It can't break the bank. I need to be able to make it or get the costume cheap. It's one day for cripes sake.
2. It must be warm so that you can wear it without having to cover it with a coat. I hated covering up my costume as a kid with a big bulky winter coat. I want my boy to be able to show off the costume without flashing his candy suppliers.
3. It has to be comfortable. This is key when he has to wear the thing all day at school.
4. They must be safe. No vision-obscuring masks. No sharp edges. No props that can hurt someone if he decides to demonstrate his "moves."

Sweatsuits to the rescue. I can layer t-shirts under them for warmth. They are very comfortable. They can be reused after the holiday so they are cost effective.

My plan was to whip stitch black felt stripes onto an orange sweatsuit, paint his face, add last year's after Halloween discounted tiger ears and tail and call it a day (or a tiger). The big question again - "where can I find an orange sweat suit for the kid. "
