I'm going to suggest a challenge for this weekend. Use your garden, or mine, as inspiration for color only. Don't use any flower stamps.

This image is linked to my flickr account and there are a handful of pictures of my garden/yard. You can use any one of them for inspiration for your weekend creations or you can find a different picture of a garden. Post the inspiration and the creation and send me a link so I can see it.

There may even be a little something in the snail mail for those who participate.

BTW This daisy and it's sister are growing in the crack in my patio. I thought they were dandelions at first but then noticed the slight difference in the leaves compared to the dandelions I had already dug up.

My friend Vicki loves butterflies and so I made this birthday card for her. The birthday wishes are peach, love and joy but you have to look closely to see that.

Thank you teachers

My son goes to the greatest school (title contains link).  He has been going to there since he was 10 weeks old. Five and a half years later many of the teachers are like family, a great big group of loving aunts that care for him, teach him and even entertain him.
Last week was kindergarten graduation and school recognition day. The non-graduating students all the way down to the infants are recognized for their unique contribution to the school. Awards can be anything, Most Maternal infant, Most Affectionate preschooler, Best in Potty Training for a boy in the toddler room and a perennial favorite Most Improved.
My son took home the "Best in Language Arts" award. This covers not only reading and writing but vocabulary. He uses words many adults, let alone kids, don't use. Actually. Apparently. Properly. Fissure.
We made cards top thank the teachers for their efforts this year and here they are. The boy helped with them: some with stamping, others with punching and  some with just picking out colors. He got to choose which teacher got which card.

Happy Birthday Kayka

Today is my sister's birthday. We celebrated on Sunday and because it was a pretend birthday she got to be 30 again. She also was pretending she was a movie star – a down-to-earth star that cooks for the family and does their own laundry. This is the card I made for her, notice the stars.

Quick Prayer

Last night my son was very tired at bedtime and he was more than happy to just go to sleep during cuddle time. I asked which prayer should we say.
"Shoes" was the reply.
"Shoes?"
"Yeah, you know Bless Yous."
"Who should we bless?"
"Everybody."

So God Bless you today, courtesy of a tired 5 year old.

Get Well cards

There are so many people in my life that are not in the best of health. I haven't posted the cards I have sent them all because I have been busy or had a lapse in memory and thought I had posted them but I had not so here are a couple. If you are the praying kind please pray for my Aunt Mary Ann who has lymphoma, my Uncle John who has stage 4 lung cancer and doesn't even smoke, Griffin the nephew of a co-worker he is 4 years old and also has lymphoma.

There are 3 of those faux dew drops.

CRAFTY SPACE - HELP

This is so sad. I have 4 surfaces in my office/studio/crafting space and I can't see any of them at times. I am working on getting things cleaned up and organized and hope to be able to show you soon what it SHOULD look like most of the time. It's a slow process so please be patient. Anyone want to issue a challenge date, a deadline for me?

I have decided to bare my soul and show you the DAMAGE, a busy life and apathy can do to a room. Warning not for the faint of heart (ie: neatniks)

Cheap, Lucky Me - Dew Tell

I love all the toys, bits and bobs people used to make cards and scrapbook pages. I also like to save my money for silly things like food, shelter and GAS. The other day I was in the clearance aisle at Michael's and got some of those bits and bobs at bargain basement prices and here they are.

Acrylic dot just like dew drops and look at that prices. Just $2 a 5 oz bag.

I used some empty spice jars that are a very interesting shape.

Filled them up and viola — Kate's version of dew drops.
