I am so ready for Spring

So ready that I changed the look of my blog to get more of that spring feeling in my world. Maybe jealousy is driving my desire for warmer weather.

I recently received a get well card from a friend in California, she is a high school teacher, and in the card she mentioned "we've been in the 80s all week". I thought it was one of those spirit week kind of things -- all the kids dressed in day-glo spandex and leg warmers with headbands in their big hair.

Noooo it was the weather she was talking about. It's snowing here today and she is soaking up the rays. If I could afford the flight and time off work I'd go. But we can't take time off for fun because we take time off for illness. My son has strep, again for the second time in 6 weeks. I have now used 4 of my 5 sick days for the year.

Obviously not the best year for my family. If you have read this blog of late you know that my aunt is battling lymphoma. Well in the category of lighting striking twice now her brother, my Uncle John, has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. If you are the praying type I ask that you please add them to your prayers.

Now for the fun stuff.

I love the stamp set Always the bird just does something to me that I can't explain. and it looks good in any color too. I wanted this to be the stamp set of the week but with all the illness, Sale-A-Bration bookings and catching up on neglected housework I haven't had a lot of time for blog posting. I hope to have more with this set up soon. Of course in my life soon could me a couple of months but now that I am on the mend I hope to be a bit more consistent in my blogging.

I read the blogs of people who post images of their daily creations and I am in awe and wonder not only of the talent but of the ability to get the images online each day, stamp each day, go to work each day, keep house each day and raise a family each day. I know a lot of these women are alone like I am. Their husbands are in the military or they are single mothers too and I just don't know how they do it. Kudos to you all, to the Beates and Simones and all the other super talented ladies out there.

On the What I've been Reading front.
I've been trying to limit my craft spending I have so much STUFF and I'm getting to the point of no place to put the raw materials. I should probably take the challenges offered by Simone and Greta at scrap your crap. Well I didn't want to let those 40% off coupons at Micheal's go to waste so I purchased a book I've been wanting by Claudine Hellmuth entitled Collage Discovery Workshop. I love her stuff, and now I have the directions to make my own so be looking for that.

And last but not least
Our little 2 person family has been selected to be the March Family of the Month for our parishes Christian Family Movement group. This posed a bit of a problem as the newsletter editor wants pictures of us, preferably together. Well there just aren't many pictures like that - at least not that many I'd be willing to share with the world. When kids are little generally someone is engaged in an activity with the child and someone else snaps the pictures that's why a lot of photo albums have no pictures of mom or dad well as both mom and dad I can't do the activity and take the pictures so we just don't have many because playing is more fun than taking pictures. Enter Home & Abroad Photography. My friend Heather came to the rescue and took a bunch of portraits up us. She is even using one on the companies website (currently under construction) but they have a myspace page if you're interested in having portraits done in your home.

Here we are in all our glory:

Until next time
Hasta la bye bye
